With Great Sadness...
We just wanted to let all of you know that Gianna passed away last night. She was with her husband Ray and her family... Please keep them all in prayer during this difficult time. Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ - Galatians 6:2
I guess we should start by introducing the lovely lady this page is dedicated to - Gianna Castro. Gianna is 22 years old, a loving wife, a beautiful daughter and a friend to so many. She is active at her church "Grace Covenant Christian Church" in San Diego, California where her parents serve as Pastors. She has love, she has beauty, she has a sense of humor, she has faith, she has grace and she also has cancer.
Gianna was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called "renal medullary carcinoma" in June of 2011. It affects the kidneys and is usually present in individuals who have the sickle cell trait. Because this cancer is so rare, it is often metastatic at the time of diagnosis. Gianna's cancer was already at stage 4 when she was diagnosed.
Though the prognosis is typically no longer than one year for patients with RMC, Gianna is steadfast in knowing the ruler of all life is in the hands of God and she has been positive - knowing and believing that God can give her a miracle healing! We believe that with her and pray daily that he would see fit to heal her...That the whole world would know the greatness of an almighty God!
As Gianna endures the trials that come with being sick, she is physically weak but emotionally and spiritually stronger than ever. She has been an inspiration to everyone around her and we are grateful to be touched by her in so many ways.
It is with this gratitude that we have set up this page - with the purpose of helping Gianna and her husband Ray in what little way we could. Medical insurance covers only so much of the cost for Gianna's treatment and prescriptions. We hope that in some way, we can bless Gianna and show her our support. That even though we cannot carry the physical burden of this disease with her, we can help by carrying the financial burden.
